As the Deschutes Republican Party, we are deeply concerned by the events that unfolded on April 4th, 2023. This day will forever be remembered as a dark moment in American history, as a President of the United States has been indicted for the very first time and is the culmination of a prolonged political persecution of President Donald J. Trump.

This persecution has been unrelenting since he secured the Republican Party nomination in 2015 and ultimately became our 45th President of the United States.

Former Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, recently stated that President Trump will have a chance to prove his innocence. However, as a former Speaker of the House, she should be aware that the presumption of innocence, a principle dating back to British law, is woven into the very fabric of our justice system and is a fundamental pillar of our republic. Yet in today's America, the left has shown that they will use everything in their power, including the weaponization of the justice system, in an attempt to silence the leading Republican candidate for President of the United States

Despite failing to substantiate any wrongdoing through the debunked Russia collusion narrative, multiple impeachment attempts, and the recent raid on Mar-a-Lago, they persist in their unwavering pursuit to silence President Trump. This blatant disregard for the principles of justice and democracy poses a serious threat to the very foundations upon which our country was established.

The situation should serve as a clear warning to all Americans. Our "right to peaceably assemble and petition the Government for a redress of grievances" is at risk. Not only the risk of being silenced, but also at risk of being indicted, arrested, and found guilty before innocent. This is a condition our founding fathers anticipated and protected against within our founding documents and the highest laws of our nation. We find ourselves at the mercy of a rogue justice system that was designed to "establish justice, ensure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty" for all people. But today, this is all at risk.

The Deschutes Republican Party stands for the values of liberty, individual rights, and personal responsibility. We will not be silenced by these tyrannical actions. We will continue to stand with President Trump and all Americans who are fighting for justice and freedom. We urge all Americans to join us in this fight to protect our republic and the principles upon which it was founded.
