2024 Legislative Opening Session

The Oregon Legislature Opened today, Monday Feb. 5th! Did you watch it? (You can watch it online!)

The Senate convened at 8 am. and adjourned at 9:08 am.

After the ceremonial opening, the Senate had a “First Reading” (by title only) of all the bills starting in the Senate for this short session of the legislature.

 

 

They approved SCR202, the bill that sets the Legislative deadlines for the session.

They also addressed SB5506 (from 2023) which had some line-item vetoes from Governor Kotek.

Senator Kate Lieber moved that this bill be “laid on the table en bloc”, which means it is put on hold temporarily.

The House convened at 8:30 am. and adjourned at 9:26 am.

The House welcomed newly appointed Representative Dwayne Yunker, House District 3, Republican.

 

After the ceremonial opening, the House had a “First Reading” (by title only) of all the bills starting in the House for this short session of the legislature.
