His broadcast career began as a financial market commentator. In 2016 he transitioned to politics, serving as a primary TV surrogate and an advisor for the Trump presidential campaign.

Steve Cortes is a political commentator for Fox News Channel and heads Rise Strategies, a media messaging and public affairs company. He also remains an informal advisor to the President. "Steve is a strong communicator, has the experience, and he brings the receipts."  For two decades, Steve has worked on Wall Street as a trader and strategist, and presently serves as head strategist for BGC Partners, providing risk management strategies to banks and hedge funds.

He graduated from Georgetown University, which nominated him for the Rhodes Scholarship. He lives in Tennessee with his wife and four children.
