Deschutes Republicans Applaud President Trump’s Appointment of Lori Chavez-DeRemer as Labor Secretary
BEND, Ore. – We are incredibly proud of Lori Chavez-DeRemer for her appointment as Labor Secretary by President Trump. While some Republicans have expressed concerns about certain votes during her time in Congress, it’s important to recognize that she represented Oregon’s 5th Congressional District, a politically diverse area that leans Democrat. Her record as one of the most bipartisan legislators in the U.S. House demonstrates her ability to bring people together and find common ground.
President Trump’s decision to appoint Lori speaks to her commonsense approach to labor and business. As a business owner herself, she understands the balance between protecting workers' rights and promoting pro-growth policies that benefit businesses, employees, and the economy alike. Her appointment reinforces President Trump’s commitment to policies that uplift working-class Americans—a key pillar of today’s Republican Party.
The Republican Party is now the party of the working class, while Democrats have become the party of Big Money and Corporate Elites. That’s why union members, like Teamsters President Sean O’Brien, have voiced support for President Trump, recognizing the real impact of his policies. As one example, under his leadership during his first presidency, Americans saved $11,000 per household thanks to deregulation efforts that cut through unnecessary bureaucracy and helped working families thrive.
