As many of you know, a special election will be held January 31st in Congressional District 1 (CD-1). A Republican win in that district may be a precursor for more victories here in Deschutes, statewide and nationally. Once CD-1’s November 8th primary concludes, the serious work begins to help them recapture a seat held by Democrats for several decades. We missed an Oregon Republican sweep in 2010 by 27,000 votes, so our number one priority moving forward is voter registration, followed by a strategic Get Out the Vote (GOTV) effort.

It was announced recently that Oregon will host the March 19th Republican Presidential Primary debate in Portland. We will keep you posted in future E-blasts on the location for the Portland viewing party, and we may be announcing a DCRP viewing party as well, so stay tuned!

The RNC’s selection of Oregon as a debate host shows we are once again a player on the national scene. It will take all of us working together to help this state turn back to its proper shade of RED.

Our state legislators are all once again up for re-election. For your convenience, a complete contact list of all our elected officials is under the 'Elected Officials' tab of the website.

To learn more about the 2012 ORP Platform, please see the Home page of our website. I was part of the DCRP delegation that attended the Platform Convention here in Bend last September, so make sure to take a look at the result of our hard work.

The 2012 election we have all been waiting for is fast approaching. This really is the most important election of our lifetime, and we need everyone engaged in the process. Please stay informed - read the newspaper, write letters to the editor, attend candidate events, find a candidate you believe in and lend them the gift of your time.

Beginning in January, the DCRP will once again resume their monthly Central Committee meetings which will be held the 3rd Tuesday of the month. Check our website often, and sign up for our weekly E-blasts to keep up on all of our activities. Each and every one of you can make a difference in the outcome of the
elections.

In closing, I would like to thank the DCRP Executive Committee for their fine work this past year. I am confident that working together, we will rally the troops and help elect many Republicans in 2012!
